City on a Hill Painting & Construction came out to repair water damage from a leak in the roof. Their communication was excellent and they showed up on time. The crew was very professional and took care with my stuff. They taped, bedded and painted the areas that had damage. It looks great! I would definitely use them again.

Our Story A painting tradition built on
A painting tradition built on
faith, family and craft
City on a Hill Painting & Construction is a family-owned, faith-driven company committed to honoring God through excellence, integrity, and service to others. Our company name is inspired by the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:14-16, which encourages believers to live in a way that reflects love, honesty, responsibility, and visible good works.
We strive to conduct business in a way that demonstrates:
• Integrity in all dealings • Honesty and transparency • Respect for others and their property • Humility and willingness to correct mistakes • Excellence in workmanship • Dependability and responsibility • A spirit of love and service toward clients and fellow workers • Commitment to doing what is right — even when it is difficult
We believe our work is an opportunity to serve others well, and that the quality of our character is just as important as the quality of our craftsmanship. Therefore we purpose to conduct ourselves in a manner that is consistent with these values in all communication and interactions with clients and other professionals.
Daniel Vargas founded City on a Hill in 2007, carrying forward a trade passed down from his father, Carlos Vargas, who spent over 35 years in the painting industry. Daniel grew up working alongside his father, learning painting, drywall, carpentry, texture work, and more from the ground up. That deep, multi-trade foundation is what sets City on a Hill apart.
Today, City on a Hill serves homeowners and property managers across Boerne, Kendall County, Fair Oaks, and San Antonio. Our team handles interior and exterior painting, drywall repair, carpentry, decks, fencing, siding, tile, bath remodels, and commercial painting — all under one roof, with one point of contact.
Being family-owned means Daniel is personally invested in every job that goes out under the City on a Hill name. The crew is fully insured, and every project is backed by a commitment to quality and fair pricing — no shortcuts, no unfamiliar subcontractors.

How We Work
What you can count on
Family-Owned Since 2007
Daniel Vargas leads every project with the same standards his father, Carlos, built over 35 years in the trade. You work with the owner, not a call center.
Two Generations of Skill
Our painting roots go back to the 1960s, when the trade demanded mastery of sheetrock, tape, float, and texture. That depth of knowledge shows in every finished wall.
Fully Insured Work
Every job is covered, so your home or commercial property is protected from start to finish. You can hire with confidence.
More Than Just Paint
We handle drywall repair, carpentry, pressure washing, tile, and more under one roof. Fewer contractors to coordinate means less stress for you.
Clean, Respectful Jobsites
We treat your property the way we would treat our own. Work areas are kept tidy throughout the project and cleaned up completely before we leave.
Straight Talk on Price
We give you a clear, honest quote before any work begins. No surprise charges, no vague estimates.
